Police received reports of a vessel that was taking on water after crashing into the rocks along the East Point Cliffs around 7:46 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 7, Nahant Police and Fire said.
Firefighters made their way to the lodged boat and safely removed all five individuals. One was taken to a local hospital but no other injuries were reported.
“I want to commend everyone for their valiant efforts in this rescue,” said Police Chief Timothy Furlong. “Severe thunderstorms Sunday resulted in slightly choppy water making it difficult to navigate, but thanks to the quick thinking and vigilant efforts of our first responders everyone made it out safely.”
The boat is still stuck on the rocks and the US Coast Guard and SeaTow are working on having it removed.
